AERO Reading and Writing Institute
May 26-27, 2017
Hosted by the American School of Madrid
This three-day institute for grade 2-9 educators will focus on a variety of ways to differentiate within the Readers and Writers Workshop. Participants will learn how to utilize Common Core / AERO Standards within the workshop model. Using practical tools for analyzing and collecting student data, participants will plan for differentiated instruction. During the workshop teachers will have opportunities for hands-on teaching in small groups and one-on-one conferencing with students. Key resources will be common core standards and Teacher's College Units of Study. We will utilize a lab classroom structure, allowing teachers to see model classrooms and implement the strategies presented. We will also incorporate a combination of whole group presentation and grade-specific breakout sessions.
