The Nature of Schoolyard Habitats:
A schoolyard habitat, as envisioned by ECO-MAIS, is any area within or adjacent to school grounds which can be developed, constructed, and utilized within the school's curriculum to observe living organisms and their interaction with the environment.  Also, schoolyard habitats are utilized to develop a better understanding of the Earth's ecosystems, humans' connections to them, and the role of all humans as caring stewards.
